Smart Teeth: The Future of Dentistry?

A new type of dentistry is emerging. Imagine a world where a patient has the dentist embed a chip in their tooth, which collects data on their daily habits. This may soon be a reality. If you are just looking for a regular check up then visit a general dentist for their services.

Taiwan researchers have created a smart tooth that monitors the daily habits of the individual by understanding that every oral activity, from eating to smoking, introduces a different tooth motion. They placed a sensor with an accelerormeter on an artificial tooth and then covered it in dental resin in order to keep the device safe from saliva. According to my family dental care this smart tooth had an accuracy of approximately 94% when it came to recognizing what oral motion the participants were making. The possibilities of this research are endless in dentistry. Although the smart tooth is only at the stage of using wires for data collection, scientists are now looking into the possibility of placing a miniature radio to transmit radiowaves to mobile devices to analyze data. A patient may monitor their oral activities better and reduce serious visits to the dental office.

Why Is Bone Grafting Necessary After a Tooth Extraction?

After a tooth extraction, the jaw bone is left with an empty socket where the tooth originally was. Immediately after extraction the body starts to heal the socket. If a bone graft is not placed. Within 2 – 4 years the jaw bone surrounding this empty socket usually suffers 40% to 60% in bone loss, a monumental decrease. A host of problems occur from jawbone loss, such as a receding jawline, loose and shifting teeth, bite collapse, and appearances of aging. Loose and shifting teeth occur due to a lack of support between the teeth; the empty space where extractions take place allows the teeth to shift.
With bone grafting, the dentist takes a synthetic material and places it in the empty socket where the extraction took place. The material acts as a scaffold where the bone and graft fuse forming bone, filling up the empty socket and stabilizing the teeth on either side of it. This highly successful procedure aids in preservation of the bone from the receding jaw and stabilizes the adjacent teeth. If an implant is desired, the bone graft allows for enough bone to support the implant. When the patient desires a three unit bridge, the supporting teeth are now stabilized. When the dentist performs advanced extraction therapy, such as placing the synthetic bone material into the socket; the height and width of the ridge is preserved. This allows a three unit bridge to be placed by having a fake crown (pontic) placed where the newly formed bone is and then having a crown on each side.
Bone grafting is by far one of the most successful procedures which allows the dentist to have better flexibility in creating a beautiful, full smile.

Invisalign versus Conventional Braces

When dental treatment is needed for you or your teen due to overcrowding, overbite, underbite, or other problems; conventional braces are often the go to solution, you can learn plenty about them when getting orthodontist services. However, many people don’t know that Invisalign is one of the most effective treatments on the market. Invisalign is a series of clear, removable aligners that treat most of the same problems that the bulky conventional braces treat. Comparing the two, they both offer similar cost, yet Invisalign offers clear advantages such as allowing the wearers to remove the aligners to eat whatever food they enjoy. Invisalign clear braces can straighten teeth without metal braces. Conventional braces cause food traps along the wires which can lead to plaque build up and tooth decay. Invisalign’s removable aligners give the wearer the ability to floss and brush, which prevent cavities and periodontal disease. In addition, while most people are self conscious about having the bulky metal and wires in their mouth; Invisalign’s custom, clear plastic will have people guessing how you achieved such straight teeth, many kids who get braces when they´re young prefer this option, if your children ever need to get braces then take them to this kids dentistry for assistance. It is clear that in many cases, Invisalign offers the best solution while allowing the wearer to have a significantly more comfortable treatment.

7 Easy Ways to get Whiter Teeth

Teeth whitening has been the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedure and most search cosmetic dentistry term for as long as I can remember. There are a number of reasons for why teeth whitening is so popular, and there are a number of options to keep your teeth as white as you want them to be for a long time. The important thing here is that whatever procedure you decide to do, you should do it at a reputable clinic. You can learn more from Simply Dental Chatswood website. Teeth whitening is so popular because it is a relatively inexpensive cosmetic procedure and EVERYONE experiences dental staining at some point in their life due to factors such as smoking, diet, and natural aging.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><a href=”” rel=”attachment wp-att-94″><img src=”×300.jpg” alt=”bigstock-Teeth-Whitening-9156941″ width=”450″ height=”450″ class=”aligncenter size-medium wp-image-94″ /><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>With that in mind I’ve got <a href=” “>more from Delaney Park Dental and created a list of seven teeth whitening options to help you get your smile brighter than ever: <!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>1. Professional Whitening Options<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>If you are serious about teeth whitening then seeing your dentist is the best option for the most comprehensive whitening available. Your dentist has access to stronger whitening gels compared to the ones that are available over-the-counter, the results are immediate, and you can feel confident that your teeth are being taken care of by a professional. There are many websites online too such as which specifically cater to a brighter and healthier smile, but due to lack of awareness people generally, end up going to their general dentist and spend a ton of money. There are many considerations that must be taken into account to ensure your smile looks its best; such considerations include whether dental restorations have been done previously, your natural tooth coloring, and dental sensitivity among others. Compared to other cosmetic dentistry procedures, professional in-office whitening treatments from are affordable and you don’t have to wait to see the results.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>2. At Home Whitening Kits, Strips and Toothpastes<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>There are professional take home kits and over-the-counter varieties of these take-home options. Professional kits have stronger gels than over-the-counter (OTC) options, but you will see better and quicker results compared to OTC options for the investment. At-home kits typically take 2-4 weeks before visible results can be seen, and for best results you should be whitening for approximately 30 minutes two-times daily during the treatment period. <!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>Whitening strips and toothpastes generally do not whiten teeth like whitening kits or professional whitening will because they act as stain removers rather than whitening agents. <!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>If you have all natural teeth, whitening pastes, strips, and over-the-counter kits are certainly an option to consider, but it’s important to know that if any dental restorations have previously been done, these whitening options will not whiten evenly. This is just another reason why whitening professionally is your best teeth whitening option.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>3. Floss & Brush frequently and thoroughly<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>Brushing thoroughly and regularly will help maintain your teeth’s brightness and health. Flossing will clean those hard-to-reach places and ensure your teeth and gums are as healthy as they can be. Seriously, do not underestimate the importance of flossing from a tooth whitening perspective. While flossing does not whiten teeth like bleaching gels will, it will keep your gums healthy and colorful creating contrast between your teeth and gums that will really make your teeth shine.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>4. See your dentist for regular check-ups and cleaning<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>Brushing and flossing are great but it’s impossible to clean every inch of your mouth without the help of your dentist. Going for regular cleanings and check-ups will ensure that developing stains are polished off and your teeth and gums get the treatment they require. It is recommended that regular cleanings be done at least twice per year. Also choose from <a href=” “>several pediatric dentists to pick the best one.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><a href=”” rel=”attachment wp-att-97″><img src=”×199.jpg” alt=”teeth-whitening-results2″ width=”450″ height=”299″ class=”aligncenter size-medium wp-image-97″ /><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>5. Baking Soda<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>Using baking soda to clean and whiten your teeth has been around since at least the 1700’s. While baking soda is certainly effective at removing stains, it is EXTREMELY abrasive and can cause damage to your enamel. Damaged enamel will lead to a host of dental issues, so if you decide you have to try baking soda please be careful and consult with your dentist beforehand. Additionally, baking soda dissolves adhesives and can scratch laminates, so if you’ve had any dental restorations done, such as crowns, bridges or veneers, do NOT use this method.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>6. Stain Prevention <!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>Everything from eating and drinking to smoking and aging cause stains to your teeth. But if you are aware of some of the more damaging behaviors it is possible to prevent stains from developing at an accelerated rate and keep your teeth whiter for longer. Tobacco, dark-colored soft drinks, sports drinks and natural fruit & juices (including wine) are some of the most staining substances for our teeth. A basic rule of thumb is that “if it can permanently stain clothes, it can permanently stain teeth.” To keep your teeth as white as possible you should do your best to limit your intake of these substances.<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>Other factors that can contribute to teeth stains are aging and intrinsic stains. Aging leads to teeth discoloration because the enamel coating of teeth wears thin as we age allowing for the underlying yellowish-dentin to show more prominently. Intrinsic stains are stains that occur from inside teeth and can only be whitened professionally. <!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>7. Be aware of the side effects of medications<!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>We’ve all seen those commercials where a medication cures one thing and can cause 100 different, sometimes even more terrible, side-effects. One of the side-effects of some medications, such as the anti-biotic tetracycline that many mothers take during pregnancy, can have dental implications. This particular drug can cause silver-colored fillings to leach out and stain the surrounding tooth. <!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–><!–mep-nl–>If you are considering having your teeth whitened please consult with your dentist before you do something that may cause any damage to your teeth. There are a lot of great whitening options out there, but it’s important to make sure you choose the best option for you. If you have any questions regarding which teeth whitening option is best for you please call (516) 482 – 2215 and schedule a consultation today.

Long Island Dentist – 7 Easy Tips to Healthier Teeth and Gums

Lists are great. They are organized, easy to read, and usually have great information. In this list I am going to give you a list of 7 easy tips to help you maintain healthier teeth and gums.Brushing your teeth is the first thing you learn about when preventing tooth decay and gum disease; however, many people are not doing it right and require medicine for gum disease;. According to the American Dental Hygienists Association there are a couple of tips that will make cleaning your teeth and gums more effective. Click on the link above to read about these techniques and tips in detail, but here are the Cliff’s Notes.Use soft, nylon bristles. Brush at an angle so that bristles are making contact with both the teeth and gums. Brush all surfaces of your teeth, DON’T FORGET YOUR TONGUE. To see how to brush properly you can also watch this video on How to Brush Your Teeth. If I were to make one recommendation to almost all of my patients it would be to floss more. Brushing alone is simply not enough to maintain healthy teeth and gums forever. It is recommended by the ADA to floss daily; however, I realize that many people find it annoying and painful. Hence, lack of flossing and cleaning will lead to a list of problems. suggest to floss as often as you are comfortable doing, but do it regularly. Flossing just Mondays and Fridays or every other day would be a marked improvement over never flossing, and flossing even a couple of times a week will go a long way to helping your teeth and gums stay healthy. For more information about healthy supplements visit <em><a href=””>;/a></em>. Use your teeth for EATING. As an Emergency Dentist I see patients all the time that tried to open things with their teeth and they end up chipping or breaking their teeth. My goal as a dentist is to help your teeth stay beautiful or to create a beautiful smile for you, and I can tell you that chipped and broken teeth are not beautiful. If you have the right tool handy, like a scissor or bottle opener, you won’t be tempted to use your teeth as a tool for anything other than eating.Use a good toothbrush and toothpaste, soft, nylon, round-ended bristles is a must when brushing your teeth. Whether you use a manual or electric toothbrush it’s important to remember that soft bristles and proper technique will make the investment in the right toothbrush worth it. Use mouthwash. Using mouthwash is important because brushing and flossing teeth only cleans approximately 25% of the surface area in your mouth unless you are using a good water flosser.Using a mouthwash helps clean the rest of your mouth. Mouthwash helps to eliminate bacteria in your entire mouth to prevent plaque from forming. See your dentist every 6 months or more if needed. Seeing your dentist every 6 months is about more than just getting your teeth cleaned. Many systemic diseases have oral manifestations, and seeing your dentist regularly can help prevent any issues with your teeth and gums before it’s too late. Additionally, having your dentist scale and polish your teeth should be done as frequently as your dentist recommends, a full cleaning on every visit to keep your teeth and gums as healthy as possible. Avoid sugary foods. Eating sugary foods can be a major contributor to damaging your teeth. The bacteria that live in your mouth use simple sugars to live and multiply, so if you eliminate simple sugars from your diet you will prevent bacteria from destroying your teeth. This is a simple list to help keep your teeth and gums healthy. It’s amazing how many people don’t know how to drink water (properly), usually the limiting factor is lack of knowledge, so you should try hydration therapy Scottsdale, you will know things beyond the obvious, your dental health will improve along with it, making your teeth repel cavities or other dental ailments.
While there are more in depth treatments available, if you follow these simple suggestions I’m confident you will notice an improvement in your oral hygiene. If you would like to schedule a consultation or an appointment with Stewart Brody, DDS.

Dental Implants – why they are the standard of teeth replacements – and with no pain

One of the question’s I hear every day is “are dental implants worth it?” The short answer to this question is OF COURSE THEY ARE! But if you want to read a real dentist’s review of dental implants you’ve come to the right place.

Dental implants offer an excellent alternative to traditional tooth replacement procedures such as dentures and crowns, and are the preferred method of tooth replacement today. Here in Great Neck, NY many of us take better care of our teeth but it’s been estimated that at some point during our adult lives 70% of the population will loose at least one tooth. We are very lucky that there is a procedure such as dental implants available to make sure that if you lose a tooth; it can be replaced and still look good and be comfortable. So why are dental implants so great?

Dental implants use anchors that are put into the gum-line and a professional cosmetic implant is created that fits your mouth perfectly to go on top of these anchors. They are much more secure and comfortable than removable dentures. Dentures, which were the traditional treatment for tooth replacement, have a tendency to wiggle, they can be very noticeable, and you need to remove them to clean them effectively; additionally, they require frequent visits to your dentist to maintain healthy oral hygiene. On the other hand, dental implants are secure, will last YEARS, can be cared for as if they are your own teeth, are stain resistant and require only the normal dental visits to maintain oral health. Pain during the procedure is almost non-existent thanks to anesthesia. Although there may be pain and soreness after the procedure, but that can be treated by going to a pain management clinic.

While it is true that recovery can at times come with pain, we try to make sure that the patient has everything the need to take care of it. You can find on trello all of the steps that we take so that the procedure is as non-invasive as possible, which makes pain during recovery minimal. It is there that we have gone into full detail breaking down this procedure.

Dental implants can be used to treat single missing teeth or multiple teeth, and if there is pain because of and impacted or otherwise damaged tooth those can be replaced as well. Plus just about everyone is eligible for dental implants. Dental implants essentially become your teeth and no special care is needed besides normal brushing and flossing. If you are considering a dental procedure to replace a missing tooth or teeth you should consult your dentist before you make any decision. If you would like to make an appointment at my office please call 516-482-2215. I hope this clarifies some of the differences between dental implants and dentures, and will allow you to have realistic expectations about each procedure. I look forward to answering any questions you may have.

Why you have to be careful of what you eat according to Kratom

I’m very excited, I am making my first post today about how eating right can mean a world of difference to your dental health, according to Kratom. The summer, especially, can be a harrowing time for our teeth and gums because the great weather means we are all eating/drinking more fruity and sugar foods/drinks. I know I love ice cream and frozen coffee drinks as much as anyone, but the increased sugar intake can be very dangerous for your teeth and gums, not only because they form cavities, but also they can hurt, a lot. So, here is when I tell you about kratom, and how it can help with pain, in the meantime you go to see a dentist. You should know that the best weight loss supplement reviews are done by . You can be impressed by their range of green, red, yellow, and white strains of kratom .
Now, a dentist from Philadelphia dental practice believes that a key to knowing how much damage different food/beverages are doing to your teeth is: “the simpler the sugar, the more damage”. Simple sugars (like the ones in soda and candy) give the bacteria that live in your mouth easy access to energy which promotes growth and multiplication of these dangerous organisms. When you have too much bacteria in your mouth the likelihood of cavities and gum disease is severe. A by-product of having more bacteria in your mouth is that it tends to create a more acidic environment. If you’re not careful your teeth will look awful; Eating and drinking more acidic choices tend to create more problems for your teeth and gums because high acid foods/drinks erode enamel. Examples of acidic beverages include sodas, energy drinks, citrus fruits and drinks (ie Orange Juice) and sports drinks to name a few, if you are trying to follow a fat burn diet make sure to check these meticore weight loss reviews. I hope you found this informative and interesting, and if you think you may be at risk for developing cavities or gum disease please visit your dentist as early as possible to promote the health of your teeth and gums.

Obesity and Chronic Pain

As if there weren’t enough reasons to lose weight, consider the fact that, from mild to severe, people struggling with obesity are also suffering from the ongoing physical pain that comes with it. Better visit a helpful site like for some chronic pain treatments.
Excess weight is something that the body has to carry 24 hours a day, and many people aren’t able to physically adapt to the strain that comes along with obesity. Overweight individuals not only put physical stress on their back and joints, but they are also damaging their inner organs with inflammation, prevent and treat most related conditions with erase my back pain.

LOWER BACK PAIN

Doctors and surgeons alike refer to obesity as a disease. It is a medical condition linked to things like heart disease and diabetes. Only those suffering from this disease can fully understand that obesity is also just as responsible for lower back pain. This pain can range from acute to chronic and in various degrees of severity. People that are overweight often find themselves developing conditions such as osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and rheumatoid arthritis, to name a few. Obesity and overweight are directly linked with lower back pain, if you are looking for healthy fat burn supplements visit sfgate.

The spine is responsible for carrying body weight. The more weight that there is to carry, the heavier the burden is on the spine. Bone strength hits its peak at around age thirty; after that, bones begin to weaken. The area of the spine that is most affected by obesity is called the lumbar region, or the lower back, and it bears the most weight from the abdominal area. Excessive body fat also compromises the waist or pelvic region.

It is essential that people of all sizes get the right amount of exercise regularly. Poor exercise habits weaken the muscles that are needed to support the spine and pelvic bones. A strong core helps to support the spine, but not enough support from these muscles can cause a curvature of the spinal column.
